Joanne Heckathorn, age 68, of Upper Sandusky, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on March 5, 2021.
She was born April 11, 1952, in Kenton to the late Elmer and Esther (Wolford) Alter. Joanne married Arden L. Heckathorn on September 30, 1972; he survives in Upper Sandusky.
Surviving are daughters Dawn (Andrew) Voorheis of Upper Sandusky and Tracy (Steven) Schreck of Forest, grandchildren Jonah, Jakob, Benjamin, Lauren and Nicholas, sisters Roberta Stafford of Nashport and Janice Dawson of Dayton, and brother-in-law Bruce Barth of Lambertville, MI. She is preceded in death by brother David Alter and sister Susan Barth.
Joanne graduated from Riverdale High School with the class of 1970. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as church treasurer for many years. She worked at the former Commercial Savings Bank, Upper Sandusky, then at the Sycamore Medical Center, Sycamore.
She enjoyed playing cards with The Ladies Card Club and going on her many trips to Hilton Head, SC, with her girlfriends. Joanne loved spending time with her family and attending all of her grandchildren’s events.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 12, 2021, from 9 am – 12pm at Bringman Clark Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at noon Friday, March 12, 2021, in Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Wessler officiating. Interment will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
