Services for John Edwin Porter Jr will be held at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

He died on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Hardin Hills Health Center. He was born on September 26, 1934 in Steubenville, OH to the late John E. Sr. and Helen A. (Miller) Porter. In 1955 her married Donna Leone and she preceded him in death on July 21, 1995.

Surviving are a son; John E. Porter III of Kenton, 2 daughters; Pamela (Steven) Cotrell of Lima, Lisa Anne (Bill) Detwiler of Kenton, 3 grandsons; Chad, Tracy and Charlie Wallace, 3 great-grandchildren; Fraya, Kamdyn and Miyah and a special life long friend; Romona Snodgras.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Terry Porter, an infant sister; Mary Porter and granddaughter; Susan Skaggs.

John was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton. He was also a member of the Kenton Elks.

He was a Kroger manager and also owned and operated several small businesses in Kenton including the Porter House Carryout’s.

John loved and was passionate about his job and work. He also enjoyed cars and loved his pet dogs over the years.

The family  would like to thank the staff at Hardin Hills for the great care of their father.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
