of Kenton

Funeral services for John L. Jordan III will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor John James officiating. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday,  April 20, 2021 at the funeral home. Masks will be required and Covid-19 protocols should be followed at all services.

John died on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. He was born on December 16, 1940 in Kenton to the late William and Margaret (Fults) Jordan. On July 16, 2016 he married Zola Gill and she survives.

Also surviving are 7 daughters; Alicia (Gary) Longstreath of Urbana, Cathy (Charlie Mechling) Weinert of Urbana, Laura (Todd) Morris of Kenton, Beth Wilking of Bellefontaine, Juliette Jordan of Kenton, Emily (Richard McMannis) Jordan of Urbana, Rebecca Jordan of Japan, 2 sons; John L. (Kristy) Jordan IIII of Kenton, Justin Jordan of Kenton, a sister; Cheryl (Paul) Brielmaier of Kenton, 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother; William Otis Jordan, 2 infant grandsons; Harper, Robert, and an infant granddaughter; Amelia.

John was a 1958 graduate of Kenton High School. He then got his Masters Degree in Engineering. John worked for Siemens in Urbana, but retired as an engineer for Ford in Lima after many years.

He was a member of the Hi Point Church of Christ in Bellefontaine and a former member of the Kenton Moose and Eagles.

To say John loved music would be an understatement. John traveled all over playing in numerous bands since the age of 17. He could write songs, and was a talented guitar player. He also had a large collection of guitars stored all over his house.

John was also an avid reader, comic book collector and writer. He enjoyed reading in general as well as writing short stories.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hi Point Church of Christ in Bellefontaine.
