Joseph A. Krych, affectionately known as Joe, was born on May 28, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio. He passed away peacefully at the Marion General on August 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that touched many lives.
Joe lived a fulfilling life marked by service to his country and community. He proudly served as a US Navy veteran and was a plank owner of the U.S.S. Forrestal CVA/CV/AVI-59 Assoc. Inc. After his military service, he found his calling in various roles, most notably as a Supervisor of Distribution at the Cleveland Plain Dealer, where he retired. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through in his passion for raising apples in his orchard, which he sold at local farmers’ markets, and he later contributed his kindness as a part-time liaison in the emergency room at Marion General Hospital. Additionally, he shared his time generously as a substitute bus driver for Upper Sandusky Schools.
A great father, Joe raised four wonderful children: Kathy (Mike) Walton of LaRue, Joe (Kay) Krych of Cleveland, and Jeff (Wendy) Krych of Jacksonville, FL. His love extended beyond parenting; he treasured his role as a grandpa to his beloved grandchildren: Tom (Kate) Walton, Mark (Amanda Richmond) Walton, Jackie and Megan Krych, Nick Richardson, Kaylee Krych, and Justin Krych. Their laughter and joy brought happiness to his life, and he took great pride in watching them grow.
Joe’s hobbies reflected his love for the outdoors. He enjoyed boating, hunting, and fishing, activities that brought him peace and excitement throughout the years. His zest for life and adventure was evident in every moment he spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Kathy and two sons, Joe and Jeff, along with his cherished grandchildren. He leaves behind a dear sister-in-law, Cindy Krych, who will carry fond memories of him in her heart.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Father Joseph A. Krych and Mother Elizabeth A. (Satorius) Krych, his wife Judith A. (Boll) Krych, son Michael A. Krych, brother Tom Krych, granddaughter Anna Krych, brother Tom Krych and sister Betty Kensick. Each of these relationships shaped his life and added depth to his character, and they will be remembered lovingly by those who remain.
A Mass in honor of Joe’s life will be held on September 23, 2024, at Immaculate Conception in Kenton, Ohio, at 10:30 AM, with a gathering of family and friends to celebrate a man whose spirit will always be cherished.
