Lon W. Schmidt, age 70, of Upper Sandusky, died March 13, 2023 at Westbrook Assisted Living, which he referred to as “home.” He was born Feb. 13, 1953 in Upper Sandusky to the late William (Bill) F. and Janis I (Herbert) Schmidt. He was a 1973 graduate from Upper Sandusky High School.
He is survived by his brother Randy (Tami)) Schmidt, Carey; his niece Heidi (Chad) Obenour, Wharton, great niece, Kayler Shaw, and great nephew, Garrett Shaw; nephew, Joshua (Stephanie), Schmidt, great niece, Alivia, and great nephew, Alex.
Some of Lon’s happiest years were spent hanging out with his best friend, Davron Alimov, Findlay, and taking a trip together to Russia.
Lon loved driving and taking care of his Hummer that he kept in impeccable condition. He loved fishing in Lake Erie with family and friends, and was an avid Upper Sandusky Rams and OSU Buckeyes fan, especially basketball. His favorite pro basketball team was wherever LaBron James was playing. He also worked many years for his family business, Schmidt Machine Company, as a press operator. Lon was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church, where he would like his memorial donations to be made in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held Tues. June 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the North Salem Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Barry Halter officiating.
