M. Marilyn Spitler age 98 of Upper Sandusky, passed peacefully away surrounded by her family on Saturday March 23, 2024. She was born February 23, 1926 in Upper Sandusky to the late Adrian and Ruth (Fernbaugh) Courtad. She married Bob Gene Spitler on July 18, 1943 in Ashland, KY. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1998.
Surviving is a son John (Vicki) Spitler of Upper Sandusky, daughters Janis (Robert) Robinson of Upper Sandusky, Jill Rall of Upper Sandusky, six grandchildren; Don Kemerley, Lee Spitler, Bob Spitler, Chorie Rall, Joshua Rall, Jeremy Rall, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and sister-in-law Jane Courtad. She was preceded in death by her husband, granddaughter Carrie Rall, sister Ruth Folk, brothers Richard Courtad and Merle Courtad.
Marilyn graduated from Upper Sandusky High School class of 1944 where she participated in the pep and marching bands. She had worked as a waitress at The Dairy Store and Mabel’s Lunch as well as Stoll Casket Co. Marilyn retired from Westinghouse after 18 years. She was a member of the former Rock Run Church of God and then joined Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church. Marilyn was a former member of the Mifflin Mothers and M&M Mothers Club. She enjoyed playing cards especially at the Wyandot County Senior Connection, feeding the humming birds, crocheting, flower gardening and working crossword puzzles. Marilyn collected Shirley Temple and Dionne Quintuplets memorabilia. She was a loving mother and adoring grandmother. Her greatest passion was her family and her dogs Maggie and Honey.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 28, 2024 at 1pm at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Fr. Savio Manavalan officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
