Funeral services for Marjorie Mae “Boots” Salyer will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Rev. Douglas Flinn officiating. Burial will follow at Dola Cemetery. Friends and family may visit 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Marjorie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton. She was born on July 18, 1930 in Dola as one of fifteen children to the late George and Beatrice (Eikenberry) Kindle. On December 31, 1946 she married her husband of 61 years, James Salyer and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2008.
Surviving are a son; David (Teri) Salyer of Ada, 2 daughters; Joyce (Denny) Pees of Dunkirk, Marsha (Brian) Flinn of Kenton, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Sally Wilcox of Ada, Bonnie Pursley of Findlay and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons; Gary and James “Buddy” Salyer.
Boots was an avid Cincinnati Reds Baseball and Ohio State Football Fan. Her most prized possessions were her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking for anyone who would come to visit. She took extreme pride in her home and her love of flowers. In her later years she would make her way outside with you and point out all of her flowers and comment on how beautiful they were. She will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her and especially by her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes or Leukemia Foundation.
