Mary Joe Roy Myers died on November 6,2023 at the age of 92. She was born October 22, 1931 to Orill and Virginia (Burman) Roy who preceded her in death. Her brothers Roland, Robert, and James and sister Fannie Shearer, and her son-in-law Roger Rutan also preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Ramon Alvin Myers of 74 years, her children, Elizabeth Myers, Joe Nell Rutan, Harold (Sharon) Myers, John Myers, and Scott (Diana) Myers, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Ruth Roy, Wanda Myers, Janet Myers, and Kathy Radabaugh and brothers-in-law Larry Shearer, Jerry Myers, Dick Myers, Alan (Sherry) Myers, and Mike (Alice) Myers and a great many nieces and nephews.

MaryJoe graduated from McComb High School in 1949 and married Ramon in August 1949. She accompanied him to Columbus while he attended The Ohio State University.

She was always active, participating in the Mt. Blanchard Garden Club, leader of the local 4-H club, helping with cub scouts, participating in church activities, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the Women’s Society, singing in the choir, and helping with the Youth Group.

She loved crocheting, cooking and gardening, including a large vegetable garden. She did a lot of canning and freezing and taught her children to can and freeze which they continue to do today. She also loved her flower gardens often supplying flowers for the Garden Club display at the County Fair.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, always attending any activities in which they were involved. She attended many musical concerts, plays, and sports events, including high school volleyball, softball, baseball, football, and basketball, as well as college baseball games.

She had a strong faith in God and encouraged her children and grandchildren to find their way to a love of God. She was a member of the Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church and was active in the Women’s Society, especially in the kitchen where she and her friends, Karol Trout, Joan Burrell, and Marilyn Kelly furnished many meals for events at the church.

MaryJoe’s funeral will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to service.  Visitation will also be held from 3:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church or Cancer Patient Services. Online condolences can be expressed to the family by visiting coldrencrates.com
