Penny Kay (Powell) Reissig 67
Of Kenton
Penny Kay Reissig, caring sister, beloved aunt, loving wife, ornery cat & dog mom, and lover of root beer was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 29, 2021. She passed away at Mary Rutan Hospital surrounded by loved ones while giving her terrible illness a good kick in the pants like only Penny could.
Family meant everything to Penny. She never forgot a birthday and never failed to text her sister to tell her good night and that she loved her. Everyone looked forward to her famous macaroni and cheese every Thanksgiving and Christmas, that was literally the best in the world. Her nieces and nephews will forever remember the trips to the arcade, eating at Friendly’s, and staying up late watching WWF wrestling on Saturday nights; and never will they forget her love affair with root beer, Big Red pop, and how she could wear a Kool-Aid smile better than anyone. Her silly personality will be irreplaceable and her absence will leave an unfillable hole in the lives of her family.
Penny graduated from Hardin Northern High School in 1973. She kept busy working as a nursing assistant at the Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kenton, OH and later at the Good Samaritan Society in Arlington, OH before retiring. Spending time with her family and pets is how she enjoyed her free time.
She was born on October 8, 1953 in Findlay, OH, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Laura (Ish) Powell. Penny was married to Lawrence Reissig who preceded her in death in March 2021. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Francis and Kenneth Powell; and nephew Roger Shepherd Jr. She is survived by her sister Kandy (Roger Sr.) Shepherd; nephews Michael (Diana) Shepherd, Varian Shepherd, Jared (Miranda) Shepherd; niece LeeAnna (Kevin) Shepherd; grandnephew Benjamin Shepherd; and grandniece Devin Shepherd, along with many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A small private family memorial will be held at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Penny to Not by Choice Outreach in Kenton.
