She was born in West Liberty, Ohio on July 11, 1931, the daughter of the late Thelbert Ray “Ted” and Pauline (Circle) King.
On June 5, 1951, she married Richard Elmer “Shorty” Moore, and he preceded her in death on August 1, 1990. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Moore, a granddaughter, Traci Wood, and two brothers, John and Wayne King.
She is survived by six children: Janet Moore, Terry Fraley, Robert Moore, Tim (Joyce) Moore, Paula (Rodney) Wood, and Karen (Keith) Barns, 12 grandchildren: Michelle Luellen, Shaun (Jennifer) Fraley, Randy Fraley, Kaycee Moore, Eric Moore, Bill Wood, David Wood, Kent (Shanna) Barns, Kari (Ricky) Ricketts, Renee Miller, Natasha Conley, and Dustin Moore, 12 great grandchildren: Taryn, Keira & Ethan Fraley, Madelyn & Sophia Barns, Maille, Avani, Bronn, & Archer Ricketts, SkyLynn Vogel, and Montego & Aveli Miller, one great-great grandchild, Corbin Plymale, two brothers, Dale (Janice) King, and Larry (Joyce) King, a sister-in-law, Beverly King, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Phyllis graduated from high school and worked at GC Murphy, before working as a cook for both Belle Center School and Benjamin Logan Schools. She later went to work for the Belle Center Public Library. She was a member of Belle Center Church of Christ, where she belonged to the Friendship Circle and the Fides Circle of Kings Daughters & Sons and had served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Her hobbies included reading, jigsaw puzzles, crafts, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 306 N. Elizabeth St., Belle Center, Ohio 43310. Pastor Kris Langstaff will officiate a funeral service on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the Belle Center funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
