Robert James Burris, age 78, of Kenton, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on July 17, 1945 in Kenton, Ohio to Fremont and Rosanna (Rankin) Burris.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Margaret James Burris of Kenton; four grandchildren: Cherry Fraser, Alyshia (Dustin) Henning, Jeremy James (Kristin) Burris of Kenton and Sloane Fraser; and five great grandchildren: Johnathan, Summer Marie, Elaina, Jace and Nikky.
He was preceded in death by his son, Peter Fraser; twin sister, Roberta Davis; and brother, Gary Burris.
Robert retired from Rockwell International, Kenton after working thirty years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post #1994 of Kenton. Robert was a member of the Eagles Post #2163, VFW Post #3333, Moose Lodge #428 and the American Legion. He was a member of the Hardin County Humane Society and was previously a volunteer fire fighter and EMT. Robert was an expert marksman with a rifle. He loved nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent his life hunting and collecting Native American artifacts. He was a shortwave radio operator and involved in computer technology. He built and operated remote control aircraft. Robert studied dance with the Arthur Murray Dance School. He played guitar and loved music. One of his biggest pleasures was riding his motorcycle. In his later years, Robert enjoyed playing bingo, researching genealogy and observing his grandchildren playing. Please remember Robert for being full of laughter, full of life and full of love.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Pastor Don Clinger officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Humane Society and the American Cancer Society in remembrance of his sister, Roberta.
