Obituary for Ruth E. Staley

Ruth E. Staley age 87 of Forest, died at Vancrest, Upper Sandusky on Jan. 17, 2024. She was born Jan. 10, 1937 in St. Stephen to the late Alphonse A. and Anna C. (Widmer) Wilhelm.

She married Paul N. Staley on Oct. 11, 1958 and they celebrated over 65 years of marriage.
Mrs. Staley is survived by a son Michael (Sandy) Staley, Olean, NY, daughters, Marlene Swinehart, Upper Sandusky, Marilyn Staley, Findlay, LuAnn (Ralph) Sherman, Kenton, Lorene Pesicek, Johnstown, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a son-in-law Roger McGrath, Kenton, brothers Mervin (Becky) Wilhelm, Tiffin and Marvin (Linda) Wilhelm, Willard.
She is preceded in death by a daughter Linda McGrath, a son-in-law Tim Swinehart, a grandson Mason Sherman and a sister Kathleen Arbogast.

She was a 1955 graduate of the former Bloomville High School, and attended Tiffin University. Mrs. Staley was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Chapel, Kirby. She was homemaker, and co-owner and secretary for Hempy Water where she had worked for over 30 years. Her hobbies were collecting recipes, traveling, crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, and had entered baked goods at the Hardin Co. Fair for over 30 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Mon. Jan. 22, 2024 at 11:00AM in the St. Mary’s Catholic Chapel, Kirby. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00pm on Sun. Jan. 21, 2024 at Clark Shields Funeral Home and from 9:30-11:00AM on Mon. Jan. 22, 2024 before time of services at the church.
