Waneta Rose Caudill, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 24, 2023.  She was 89 years old.  Waneta Mayer was born on August 15, 1934, in Lima, Ohio to the late, Delbert and Opal (Shanks) Mayer, Sr.   On May 27, 1951, she married Frank Caudill, Sr. in Lima, Ohio.  He preceded her in death on July 16, 2008.

Waneta attended Elida High School.  She held various jobs, but her most rewarding, by far, was staying home and raising her eight children.  She was a longtime member of the Ark of the Covenant Baptist Church.  She was a faithful servant, serving alongside her husband for  fifty years. She enjoyed using her beautiful voice to belt out praise and worship songs, and also helping in the church where needed.  Waneta was an amazing cook, and loved doing so for her family, friends, and church families.  She also enjoyed gardening and canning much of what she grew.  She was extremely proud of her children and could often be heard saying “there are none better than my kids…. There may be some as good, but I don’t believe there are any better!”

Waneta is survived by her children: Penny Rowe of Kenton, Greg (Jackie) Caudill of Waynesfield, Frank Caudill, Jr. of Harrod, Keith Caudill of Belle Center, Michael (Jill) Caudill of West Mansfield, and Julie Caudill Tumeo of North Lewisburg; sisters: Betty Plaugher and Darlene Miller; and brothers: Donald Mayer and Jerry (Natalie) Mayer; and twenty-five grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren complete her family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her loving sons: Chris Caudill and Gary Caudill; sisters: Helen Hendrickson, Virginia Pennock, Mary Klett, and Dorothy Nichols; brothers: John Mayer, Billy Mayer, and Delbert Mayer, Jr.; and granddaughter, Melissa Manns.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Pastor Bill Prater officiating.  Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, August 28th at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.

Memorial contributions may be made to Auglaize United Baptist Church of Maysville.
