William L. Trautwein age 68 of Upper Sandusky, passed away at his home on February 14, 2024. He was born on September 7, 1955 in Upper Sandusky to the late Everett L. and Lovena M. (McCollough) Trautwein. William married Anita L. “Neitz” Higgins on April 11, 1975.

He is survived by his wife, daughters Jodi (Nathan) Smith, Cape Coral, FL, and Jill (Patrick) Lee, Upper Sandusky, grandchildren Haley, Caley, Jaxen, and Macie, siblings Rebecca (Jeffrey) Blue, Arlington, Dennis (Ann) Trautwein, Dalton, Jeffrey Trautwein, Upper Sandusky. William is preceded in death by his son Jeremy Trautwein.

Bill is a 1973 Upper Sandusky High School graduate, where he was an Ohio State wrestling champion. He was known as “Bill the Spider Trautwein” during his wrestling career. He was the owner and operator of Trautwein Excavation, a heavy equipment operator with IBEW, and a Mifflin Township farmer. William was a Mifflin Township Trustee, member of Marseilles Volunteer Fire Dept., Antique Tractor Association, Wyandot County Pheasants Forever, Marseilles Gun Club, and Fort McArthur Muzzleloading Association. He enjoyed helping cook chicken for Marseilles Volunteer Fire Dept. Bill also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and being with his dogs.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday February 21, 2024 at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Earl Kidwell officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kirby. Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 20, 2024 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Bringman Clark Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Marseilles Volunteer Fire Dept. or Wyandot Memorial Hospital in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
