ODOT Seeking Public Comment on Resurfacing and Bridge Maintenance Projects

LIMA, Ohio (Dec. 4, 2023) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed projects:

HARDIN COUNTY

County Roads 175, 190, 209, & 265 resurfacing (PID: 111471)
The Hardin County Engineer, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is proposing to resurface portions of County Road 175, County Road 190, County Road 209, and County Road 265 in Hardin County.

The work locations are:

• County Road 175 east of the city of Kenton from the intersection of Couty Road 175 and State Route 53 to the intersection of County Road 175 and County Road 160 (6.31 miles).
• County Road 190 from the intersection of County Road 190 and State Route 31 to the Hardin/Marion County Line (7.35 miles).
• County Road 209 from the village of Mount Victory to the intersection of County Road 209 and County Road 265 (5.41 miles).
• County Road 265 from the intersection of County Road 265 and County Road 209 to the Hardin/Marion County Line (6.42 miles).

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is anticipated to occur in the summer of 2025.

State Route 235 resurfacing (PID: 107658)

The Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing to resurface 10.41 miles of State Route 235 between the unincorporated community of Roundhead and the village of Alger on the western edge of Hardin County by using a full width resurfacing method known as echelon paving.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.
Construction is anticipated to occur in the summer of 2025.

DISTRICT-WIDE

District-wide bridge maintenance (PID: 109907)

The Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing to perform bridge maintenance on various bridges throughout Allen, Hancock, Paulding, and Wyandot Counties.
• Allen County
o State Route 309 structure at mile marker 0.40 over U.S. 30, just east of the city of Delphos.

• Hancock County
o State Route 103 structure at mile marker 0.66 over Interstate 75, just east of the village of Bluffton.
o County Road 60 structure at mile marker 3.95 over Interstate 75, northeast of the village of Rawson.
o State Route 15 structures at mile markers 23.69 and 23.97 over Stahl Ditch, about 2.2 miles northwest of the village of Vanlue.

• Wyandot County
o U.S. 23 structures at mile markers 2.00 and 2.02 over Honey Run, about 1.5 miles southeast of the unincorporated community of Little Sandusky.
o U.S. 23 structure at mile marker 24.28 over Spring Run in the village of Carey east of South Vance Street between East Findlay Street and East South Street.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures at the State Route 309 structure over U.S. 30. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Road closures and detours are not expected at the other locations, though temporary lane closures may occur. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is scheduled to occur in the summer and fall of 2025.

Work at the State Route 15 structures and the U.S. 23 structures may occur in the regulated floodplains of the Stahl Ditch and Honey Run. Impacts to these floodplains are anticipated to be minor and result in no rise in localized flood levels. District-wide bridge deck sealing (PID: 119043)

The Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing to seal the decks of various bridges throughout Allen and Hancock Counties.

• Allen County
o County Road 88 (5th Street/Lincoln Highway) structure at mile marker 0.20 over U.S. 30, just east of the village of Delphos.
o County Road 93 (Gomer Road) structure at mile marker 6.81 over U.S. 30, just south of the unincorporated community of Gomer.
o Township Road 95 (Sandy Point Road) structure at mile marker 2.27 over U.S. 30, southeast of the unincorporated community of Gomer.
o U.S. 30 structures at mile markers 9.26 and 9.30 over Pike Run, southeast of the unincorporated community of Gomer.

• Hancock County
o Interstate 75 structures at mile marker 12.45 over Aurand Run, just southwest of the city of Findlay.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures at the County Road 88 (5th Street/Lincoln Highway) structure over U.S. 30, the County Road 93 (Gomer Road) structure over U.S. 30, and the Township Road 95 (Sandy Point Road) structure over U.S. 30. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Full road closures and detours are not expected at the other locations, though lane closures may occur. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is scheduled to occur from the spring through the fall of 2025.
