Ohio State Highway Patrol Troops and Cadets Carry ‘Flame of Hope’ for Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies at OSU

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers and cadets participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio Friday evening.  The officers and troopers carry the “Flame of Hope” every year along side the athletes into the Summer Games Opening Ceremonies held at The Ohio State University. 

This years torch run was held on June 24th through June 28th.  The final leg took place on June 28th starting at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy and ending at the Ohio Stadium at Ohio State University.

According to Special Olympics Ohio, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio is a volunteer movement that was established by members of the law enforcement community to support Special Olympics.  The “Flame of Hope” is meant to symbolize courage, perseverance, and the inclusion movement taking place in Ohio and across the globe.
