5732 out of Hardin County’s 17,507 registered voters cast a vote in the Special Election on Tuesday.
Of those, 3634 voted yes for Issue 1, and 2098 voted no for the issue that, if passed , would have required 60% of voters to pass a new constitutional amendment, instead of a simple majority.
Despite the strong support for the issue in Hardin County and in most rural areas, the issue couldn’t overcome the opposition in metro areas and was defeated 57 to 43 percent statewide.
