The OhioHealth mobile mammography unit will be onsite at the Mary Lou Johnson-Hardin County District Library on October 17th from 9:00am until 2:00pm.
They will be offering state-of-the-art technology with the same safety, privacy, accuracy and quality you find at all other OhioHealth locations.
According to BreastCancer.Org, around 1 in 8 US women will develop invasive breast cancer in the course of their life. Incident rates have slightly increased by .5% per year. Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in US women, second only to lung cancer.
Having screenings like mammograms are important because breast cancer is sometimes found only after symptoms appear, yet many women with breast cancer have no symptoms. Screenings can help detect breast cancer earlier.
This screening will also provide an opportunity for underinsured women to receive a gift card with proof of screening.
This community screening was made possible through a partnership with the library, OhioHealth and Ohio Northern University Rural and Underserved Health Scholars Program .
