The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to Move Over and Slow Down for emergency vehicles operating at the side of the road.

This comes as a trooper, who was working with the Ohio Department of Transportation, was recently nearly struck by a motorist who failed to move over.

Troopers have issued over 22,700 move over citations since 2019.

During that same time, troopers were involved in 56 move over-related crashes.

The Move Over law in the State of Ohio requires drivers to move over and slow down for any stationary vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road.

The law applies to vehicles with flashing lights of any color, including law enforcement officers, emergency responders, road construction, maintenance vehicles, utility crews and tow trucks.
