Ottawa Man Facing Charges Following Incident Near Van Buren

An Ottawa man was arrested following an incident from over the weekend in Hancock County.

 

According to a release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, a threats and harassment complaint at the Pilot Truck Stop on State Route 613, just west of Van Buren, was received.

 

The suspect was reported to be in a Dodge Journey, which a sheriff’s deputy observed being involved in a crash with another vehicle.

 

The driver, later identified as 33 year old Joseph S. Saldana, then fled the area on foot.

 

He was located and captured by the K9 unit.

 

Saldana was allegedly in possession of a stolen firearm and a large amount of illegal narcotics.

 

He’s been charged with possession of drugs, having weapons under disability, failure to comply with a police officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, aggravated menacing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

He was transported to the Hancock County Justice Center.
