Several awards will be presented as part of the Hardin Freedom Fest parade today in Kenton.

Award banners for Most Patriotic, Best Overall, Best Theme, Best Group and Best Decorated Golf Cart will be named.

Line up starts at 8:30 am with the parade starting at 9:30 am.

The Judging will start at 9, and the awards will be at 9:15.

The parade is scheduled to start from in front of the Armory at 9:30.

It will move south on Main and turn east on Columbus where it will travel to and end at the Kenton Middle School.

Coming up tonight is the fireworks display starting at 10.

Lead pyrotechnician Mike Comstock said it will be around a 27 minute show start to finish, “Roughly $10,000 work of product that we’re going to shoot during the show. We did not get some things that we need, but we’ll improvise. The supply for 8 inch shells is very limited, so we did not get any this year. Our biggest shell will be a 6 inch, and so it ranges from the sizes of an inch and a half to 6 inch shells during the show.”

He said the grand finale will last around 2 and half minutes, and Comstock added there are several places to view the display, “You can watch on the fairgrounds, you can watch from the ballpark on 292 (State Route) and  a lot of people choose to park on the side of the road. We would encourage you to visit either one or the other. There’s plenty of parking available at either place.”

Listen to a special musical soundtrack during the display on 95.3 WKTN.

Prior to that from 8-10pm, listen to the Firecracker Soundtrack Special on WKTN.
