(The following release was provided by Hardin County Prosecutor Brad Bailey…)

The Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office, in conjunction with the Kenton Police Department and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Task Force, have reviewed all the evidence in the case of The State of Ohio vs. Charles Castle and wish to state publicly that to date there is no evidence whatsoever that the parents of the victim had any involvement in this hideous crime.

These agencies are aware that there have been social media posts that indicate otherwise.

This insinuation could not be further from the truth.

Exhaustive efforts were made in this investigation, involving seven law enforcement agencies, including, the FBI, U.S. Marshalls & the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Every lead in this case to date has been thoroughly investigated and tracked down by law enforcement.

Quite a few of them were bogus or not relevant to the time period in question. Some evidence did not even exist though the individuals indicated that it did.

This office would note that this was a lengthy trial and upwards of 25 witnesses testified.

While the media provided an accurate summary of each days’ information, a summary is no substitute for hearing all of the evidence available as the jury in this matter did.

Again, I wish to publicly state that these baseless defamatory statements have no facts to support them.

Conjecture, rumor and mere statements on social media are not sufficient to prove anything in a court of law.

It is easy to make such statements when you do not have to face anyone or back it up with FACTS. As with all crimes, law enforcement will examine all evidence presented and uncovered.

Anyone with relevant information or evidence regarding this or any other crime is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agencies.
