SOUP of Hardin County has been serving free hot meals since the mid 1980’s.
Kathy Hilty, Site Supervisor and Head Cook said that SOUP, which stands for Some of Us People, was started by a group of people who decided they wanted to do something about people going without meals and having difficulties making ends meet at the end of the month, “So they decided about making this hot meal available for lonely people, people that had no income, stretch your food stamps to the end of the month, and they decided on the name of Some Of Us People, because some of us people are concerned about that happening, and it’s hard to believe in Hardin County that it happens, but it’s there. It’s a fact.”
For the complete discussion with Hilty along with Board President Martha Klingler, tune in Public Eye Saturday morning at 7:30am and Sunday at noon on WKTN.
