Participants unite for the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Hardin County to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Come join us for Christmas  July 19.

The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event to save lives from cancer.

Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.

We want to honor all cancer survivors at our survivor dinner and relay for life event. The dinner is for the cancer survivor plus one guest. It will be held Friday July 19 at the Kenton Elks. Sign in begins at 4 pm. To register for the event please email your name, address and shirt size to marlene.brooks@ohiohealth.com by July 12.

The opening ceremony will begin at 6 pm at the Kenton Courthouse. The first lap is a special Survivors Lap where survivors walk through Thunder Alley. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the event from 6-7 pm. The Luminaria ceremony will begin at 10 pm. A Luminaria can be dedicated to show support of someone that has cancer, to honor someone or in memory of someone that had cancer. A Luminaria is just $10.00. They can be purchased through any Relay for Life team member, online at www.relayforlife.org/hardincounty or at the main event on July 19. The closing ceremony will conclude around midnight.

Music will be provided by Alpha Omega Entertainment. Concessions will be available at the event. Featuring fried foods from Buerger’s concessions and snow cones. Any group or organization that is interested in performing or helping at the event please contact Marty Skeens at 567-674-4440. Each team will be having different activities and items for sale. Some featured items are lotions, soaps and t-shirts. Tickets can be purchased from the basket raffle table beginning at 6 pm. There will be games and activities for people of all ages. Come support us by making a donation or by taking a walk around the square. The relay store will be open from 6 to 9 pm. All proceeds from this event go to the American Cancer Society.

The committee would like to thank the following sponsors of the event; Will’s Costume Shop, HSLC, Ohio Health, Quest Federal Credit Union, Wilson Tire Co, Liberty National Bank, Arby’s and Meijer.
