COLUMBUS – State Representative Jon Cross (R-Kenton) today announced the launch of TechCred, a program that connects businesses with the talent they need and gives employees the ability to earn skills and credentials to advance in their careers in today’s technology driven economy.

Representatives Cross and Michele Lepore-Hagan (D-Youngstown) sponsored House Bill 2, the Tech Cred Job Training Grant Program. This priority legislation was geared toward the incumbent workforce and individuals looking to enter an in-demand field.

“I appreciate the Ohio House of Representatives and Speaker Householder for making House Bill 2 a priority piece of legislation to further advance workforce in Ohio,” said Rep. Cross. “We are excited to champion this bill and continue to attract jobs, businesses, and investments to Ohio.”

Through TechCred, businesses can identify the specific qualifications they need and employees they want to upskill toward a more advanced position. In partnership with a training provider, the employer can apply online at TechCred.Ohio.Gov. The state will reimburse up to $2,000 of training upon completion of a credential.

Ohio companies interested in investing in their current or prospective employees by connecting them with technology-focused credentials can apply.

The online application opens October 1, 2019. TechCred is a competitive, merit-based program.
