Lima, Ohio (June 20, 2019) The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the regional accreditation agency for Ohio and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, has re-affirmed Rhodes State College’s accreditation in its June 7, 2019 action letter.

Rhodes State’s next comprehensive evaluation review will take place in 2028-29.

Based on HLC’s approval, the College chose to continue with the Open Pathway, one of three options for accreditation. It follows a 10-year cycle and, like all pathways, is focused on quality assurance and institutional improvement.

A team of HLC Peer Reviewers from across the country visited Rhodes State College on March 25-26, 2019. The HLC Team report noted that Rhodes State College met all of the Criteria for Accreditation. Significant highlights noted in the report include:

.Faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees genuinely understand and wholeheartedly support the college’s mission (Rhodes State College changes lives, builds futures, and improves communities through life-long learning);

.Degree programs ensure that student learning outcomes are consistent;

.Appropriately credentialed faculty oversee the curriculum and qualified staff support students in achieving their academic or workplace goals;

.Rhodes State evaluates student success through mission-driven Key Performance Indicators, including student retention, persistence, and completion;

.The College is fiscally-responsible with its human, physical, and financial resources; and

.The Center for Health Science Education and Innovation, in downtown Lima, will serve as a tangible example of Rhodes State’s commitment to the needs of its community through the desire to increase educational opportunities for its students.

“The Commission evaluates every aspect of an institution for student access and success; rigor; quality; and financial sustainability,” said Dr. Cynthia E. Spiers, Interim President. “The long-awaited letter of affirmation gave rise to cheers across the College,” Spiers remarked. “This is a big deal for an institution, and I’m honored to work with such an outstanding team of faculty, staff, and administrators who, on a day-to-day basis, provide excellence in teaching and learning, student support, and operational management. We work with a Board of Trustees who continues to demonstrate their integrity as they maintain due diligence and oversight of the College’s strategic and fiduciary responsibilities.”
