Ridgemont Board of Education Conducts December Meeting

The Board recognized the Ridgemont FFA Chapter for the awards they received at the National FFA Convention in October.

Ridgemont’s FFA Chapter had 39 members travel to Indianapolis, Indiana for the 92nd National FFA Convention in October.

.Presentation to the Ridgemont FFA Chapter for being recognized as a Top 10 Model of Excellence Chapter Overall in the nation, plus Top 10 Premier Chapter in the divisions of Strengthening Agriculture and Growing Leaders. Mekenzie Jolliff, Ashtin Elliott, Isaiah Savage, Kelsey Stanfield, Rebecca Bash, Madisen Jolliff and Alli Underwood represented Ridgemont in these competitions.

.Jackson Reppart was in the National FFA Choir

.Collin Wallace & Kolton Skaggs and Josiah Strahm & Jaden Hensel competed in the science fair

.Students that attended National FFA Convention to get their degrees were Meadow Cromer, Alexis Elliott, and Dillon Beiler

Outgoing Board Member Mr. Jerry Turner was recognized for his many years for service. Mr. Turner was on the Board from 2003 to December 31, 2019. Mr. Turner joined the Board when Robert Gossard resigned in 2003 and finished his term and went on to win elections since then. Mr. Turner has held the positions of President and Vice President and was on many committees and was always willing to help where he was needed. A wooden box was presented to Mr. Turner for his dedication to the district. Thank you for your service to the Ridgemont Local School District, Mr. Turner, we wish you well.

The Board’s Re-organizational Meeting will be held on January 9, 2020, at 5:00 pm in the Conference Room with the Regular Board Meeting to immediately follow.

Personnel:

A resignation was accepted from Wendy Geissinger as School Secretary. Non-certified substitutes and teacher substitutes were approved.

Operations:

Motions were approved for services from Ohio School Boards Association for 2020. Mr. Robert Ford was approved to rent the school-owned farmland in Ridgeway and the farmland agreement was approved with the Elliott Land Corporation for the unused land in Mt. Victory.

The next Board of Education meeting will be the Board’s Re-organizational Meeting will be held on January 9, 2020, at 5:00 pm in the Conference Room with the Regular Board Meeting to immediately follow. Corey Ledleywas approved as Present Pro Temp for the Re-Organizational Meeting.

As we look at this long list of donations, we want to thank everyone who has generously donated to our school. This list and the support of our levy shows how our community loves and supports our students and our school. This time of year we stop and think of all that we are grateful for and we are thankful for all of you. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all donors.
