Ridgemont Releases Minutes of August Board of Education Meeting

The 2019-2020 school year has started and we can tell that it is going to be a great year full of growing and learning at Ridgemont.

Thank you to everyone for helping us get off to a successful start.

I would like to remind parents school will not be in session from Labor Day, September 2nd to September 6th so our students may participate in the Hardin County Fair. We hope all students can spend time at the fair as an exhibitor or visitor. Good luck to all fair participants, we look forward to seeing you exhibit your animals or projects. Ridgemont is proud to have a large percentage of students in every class. Thank you to all family members who make sure our students have the opportunity to be involved with the fair.

Also, Ridgemont is not in session on Monday, September 9th to allow teachers time for professional development.

Below are the highlights from the August 22, 2019, Board of Education Meeting. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

The October Board meeting date has been changed from October 24, 2019, to October 17, 2019.

Personnel:

The following supplemental contracts were approved: Weight Room Coordinator-Brian Claybaugh, Cheerleading HS Fall and Winter-Autumn Critchfield. Jordan Streets was approved as a Volunteer for Varsity Football and Michael Bell was approved as a Volunteer for Junior High Football. Substitute Bus Drivers were approved for the 2019-2020 school year and a salary step increase for a Substitute Bus Driver. Substitute Teachers for the 2019-2020 school year were approved. Salary adjustments were made for Teachers, Dustin Scott, and Shawn Smith. Payment for Mentoring Teachers, the District Leadership Team, and the Student Learning Objective Review Committee was approved for the 2019-2020 school year.

Operations:

Athletic gate price reductions were approved if only one session is played, Adults-$3.00 and Students-$2.00. Aunt Millie’s was approved for Bakery items in the cafeteria. The Ridgemont tuition rate of $7,209.30 was approved for the 2019-2020 school year, this rate is appointed by the State of Ohio.

A motion was approved for the FFA field trip to the National FFA Convention Indianapolis, Indiana from October 29 to November 2, 2019 and we want to recognize and congratulate our chapter for being named in the Top Ten in the USA in three divisions and 4 members who will compete as Agriscience Fair finalists, details are listed below.

The Ridgemont FFA Chapter has been named a finalist in the National Model of Innovation Divisions of Growing Leaders and Strengthening Agriculture, as well as, a finalist in the Model of Excellence by the National FFA Organization. The Model of Excellence award rates chapters on activities that have been created for the students, chapter, and community; the Model of Innovation award, in the two divisions, celebrates Ridgemont’s innovative project ideas.

At the National Convention in October, Ridgemont will compete against nine other chapters from across the country to vie for the #1 ranking in each category. Programs Ridgemont completes to earn these awards include: Putting the “ME” in Mental Health and the Agri “Cultural” Fair. Ridgemont focuses on creating service-learning programs that prepare their students to become successful citizens. These programs are created to serve the needs of students, school, and community. In 2010 and 2011, Ridgemont won the Model of Innovation in Chapter Development Award, making them the top chapter in the United States. The Models of Excellence and Model of Innovation awards are sponsored by John Deere.

.Josiah Strahm & Jaden Hensel are National Science Fair finalists in the Environmental & Natural Resource Systems division

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of 669,989 student members preparing for leadership and careers in science, business, and technology of agriculture. The national convention draws 65,000 plus members, advisors, and guests from across the country.
