Ridgemont Softball Team Loses Heartbreaker to Allen East

Wednesday’s game against Allen East was a heartbreaker for Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 10-7 defeat.

The game was tied at seven with Allen East batting in the top of the eighth when O Lawerence tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Allen East had 16 hits on the way to victory.

Allen East knotted the game up at seven in the top of the seventh inning.

Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity tallied three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity was led by Brooke Nelson and Hannah Shoffner, who all drove in runs.

Allen East scored four runs in the sixth inning. Allen East offense in the inning was led by S McCluskey, S Sizemore, and K Whitley, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Lawerence was credited with the victory for Allen East. She surrendered four runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out seven.

Cassidy Knapp took the loss for Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity. She went eight innings, allowing ten runs on 16 hits, striking out three and walking one.

E Moritz started the game for Allen East. She surrendered three runs on five hits over two innings, striking out four

Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity collected 12 hits. Nelson, Emma Smith, Knapp, and Amanda Howland all had multiple hits for Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity. Smith and Nelson each collected three hits to lead Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity.

Allen East tallied 16 hits on the day. L Basham, A Craig, Whitley, Lawerence, and Sizemore each racked up multiple hits for Allen East. Basham went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Allen East in hits. Allen East was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Basham made the most plays with 13.
