Rieck Center for Habitat Studies Holding Open House

Spring has finally arrived, and the University of Findlay’s Rieck Center for Habitat Studies will be celebrating with its biannual open house! The event, which will be free and open to the public, will be held Sunday, April 28, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the center, located between Findlay and Arlington at 17311 County Road 166.

The guest speaker will be Justin Rheubert, UF biology instructor and expert on reptile and amphibian anatomy and ecology. He and his students will present their survey of amphibians at the Rieck Center.

Information will also be offered regarding exciting things happening at the center, including the new initiative to inventory species using iNaturalist.

Coffee and cookies will be served.

The center encompasses 54 acres, which include two miles of trails that weave through woodlands, grasslands, along wetlands and past a variety of other habitats. It is open to the public all year, and is used by various UF science classes for observation, study, research, and recreation.
