Robbery/Assault Report in Union County Determined to be False

A robbery reported to the Union County Sheriff’s Office last week has been determined to be false.


According to a release from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, a 9-1-1 call was made reporting the robbery and was said to have involved a female victim robbed by a male subject when she stopped along State Route 161.


The victim said she was stabbed in the arm and shoulder and punched in the face, and the suspect stole a small about of cash.


After an extensive investigation, it was determined the robbery and assault did not occur.


The incident remains under investigation, and potential criminal charges are being reviewed.


Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
