BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio – Despite the rain, over 100 runners and walkers took part in the 2nd Annual Hi-Point Hustle 5K at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. Organized by the Health Careers Academy and Exercise Science students, this event raised $3,500 for the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio.

Each year, students from the Health Careers Academy and Exercise Science programs collaborate to organize this event and select a charity to support. Last year, the event supported JDRF, raising over $2,000 with just shy of 100 runners.

“Seeing the increase in both participation and donations this year was great,” said Megan Lacher, OHP Health Careers Academy instructor. “Our students work hard to put on this race, and it was incredibly rewarding to see the community support.”

The Hi-Point Hustle included both a 5K run and a 1-mile kid’s Fun Run.

All proceeds from the event are donated directly to the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio, which helps breast cancer patients navigate the hardships of cancer treatments by providing emergency financial assistance.

Several generous business sponsors helped make the 2nd Annual Hi-Point Hustle a success:

Gold Sponsors:

AG Boogher and Son Inc.

Silver Sponsors:

Bronze Sponsors:

The students are already making plans for the 3rd Annual Hi-Point Hustle, which is traditionally held the first Saturday in May.
