Tis the season for scams.

Another one being reported involves Publisher’s Clearing House.

The caller claims to represent Publisher’s Clearing House, and they want to give you money.

To claim your prize however, you need to send them Amazon gift cards.

That is an obvious scam since you should never have to pay to receive prizes.

Residents are urged to be vigilant.

Findlay Police officers over this past weekend intercepted a couple involved in a complex gift card scam.

The scam involves a suspect or suspects manipulating gift cards in area stores, recording the card number and replacing the cards on the shelves for unsuspecting customers.

When the customer has the card activated at the register, the suspects are able to use that card with the numbers they have already recorded.

This is a nationwide scam in multiple states.

To protect yourself, be sure to examine gift cards and packaging.

That would include looking at the back of the card to ensure the scratch off section has not been tampered with or removed.

If you have questions about the card, make sure to ask a customer service representative.
