Severe Storms Possible; Heat Advisory for Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from noon Thursday until 9 Friday night.

Maximum heat index values of around 100 are expected today, and 100 to 105 on Friday.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

You should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. 

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. 

When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Also, showers and thunderstorms are possible this (Wednesday) afternoon and tonight.

Some storms may be severe.

Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats, and a tornado is also possible.
