The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office has announced that there will be no Shop with a Cop this year due to COVID concerns.

However, they have decided that Santa will be delivering gifts to those children who were going to attend.

These gifts will be purchased from the Shop with a Cop funds, wrapped by the Sheriff’s Office personnel and delivered by Santa with a Sheriff escort.

Sheriff Keith Everhart stated that there there was no way to conduct the event, that was scheduled to take place December 12, in a manner that can ensure social distancing guidelines.

Anyone who has made donations thus far and would like their money returned can call 419-673-1268.

Otherwise the money will be held over for Shop with a Cop 2021.

Sheriff Everhart issued this annoucement on the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office facebook page:

“I am sorry to have to announce that we are canceling the Shop with a Cop event that was scheduled for December 12th, 2020. This is due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. After wrestling with this decision for a week we have decided the only safe thing to do is cancel for this year. This decision was not made lightly as we are aware of the importance of this for the kids and the community as a whole. There is simply no way to conduct this event in a manner that can ensure the social distancing guidelines. Anyone who has made donations thus far and would like their money returned please contact me at 419-673-1268. Otherwise the money will be held over for Shop with a Cop 2021. This money does not get intermingled with any other funds and is only used for Shop with a Cop.”
