Suspect Sought for Assaulting and Robbing Bellefontaine Woman

The Bellefontaine Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance to help identify a male suspect accused of assaulting and robbing an elderly woman earlier this week.

According to a release, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Main Street in Bellefontaine this past Wednesday night, where they were told by the 82 year old victim that has she was unloading groceries from her vehicle, she was approached by an unknown male, who demanded that she give him money.

The woman was struck in the face and knocked to the ground.

The suspect then grabbed a bag from her vehicle, as well as the car keys, and fled northbound on foot.

The car keys were found Thursday in the 1600 block of South Detroit Street.

The suspect was wearing blue jeans, a black short sleeved t-shirt and a medical mask.
