A report about a suspicious package at the Temple Israel in Marion was investigated Monday.
According to a release, authorities were dispatched at around 9 Monday morning and were informed that the property caretaker arrived to find a plain brown cardboard box that did not have any visible labels, and the Temple was not expecting any packages.
As a precaution, the streets around the Temple were closed to traffic, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was requested and arrived around an hour later.
An x-ray of the package was taken, and investigators deemed it suspicious enough to use a low-level charge to open the package.
Once the package was blown open, it was found to contain small campaign pins for the Jewish Temple,
The all clear was given a short time later, and the area around the Temple was reopened.
