The R.E. and Joan S. Allen Scholarship Foundation Awards $130,000 in Scholarships for 2024

The R.E. and Joan S. Allen Scholarship Foundation announced the awarding of $130,000 in scholarships to 84 students for 2024.

Students graduating from Kenton High School and employees, or their family members, of Graphic Packaging International Kenton Plant, are eligible to apply for these awards.

In May, the foundation awarded 35 first year scholarships worth $60,000 to graduates.

$70,000 of renewal scholarships were awarded to 49 students for their continued success.

Sophomores receiving awards in the amount of $27,000 are:

Gabriella Wetherill, Ellie Heim, Riley Hunt, Taylor Headings, Seth Manns, Conner Defibaugh, Brock Heckathorn, Jayson Dyer, Grady Baum, Aaron Modd, Carter Hale, Abigail Temple, Emanuel Wilson, Aiden Wood, Kooper Johnston, Trevor Robinson, Avery Smith, Alison Harpel, Tyson Lawrence, Paul Hopkins and Savannah Mendez.

Fourteen Juniors will share $22,000. They are:

Kyle Allman, Chole Anderson, Lauren Bartlett, Asher Bridenstine, Grace Collins, Devan Dulin, Taylor Harshfield, Lily James, Jarrett Jolliff, Noah Ketcham, Samantha Lowe, Katelyn Sturgeon, Zane Preston and Trenton Yoder.

Fourteen Senior applicants will share $21,000. They are:

Jay Baum, Lenore Kohl, Grace Hattery, Callie Wright, Alyssa McLauglin, Carly Dearing, Augustine Forester, Mary Heilman, Erin Lyons, Owen Styer, Kierra Krohmer, Blaine Hutson, Jed Fulton and Lily Osborn.

The Allen Foundation in 34 years of operation has awarded $3,220,150 in scholarships to 1616 different individuals and awarded 738 multiyear awards ranging from $250 to $12,000 per person.

R.E. Allen, who died at the age of 98 in 2019, always commented, “It is my desire that these scholarships will enable recipients to become self-reliant, skillful and successful members of our communities.”
