The Union County Sheriff’s Office stated that they are continuing to receive phone calls related to the “Jury Duty” scam.
They are asking Union County citizens to make sure their family, friends, and neighbors are aware of this fraudulent scam, and do not give away money or gift card numbers to these criminals.
The scammers have become more creative with their storyline using the names of “Deputy Jones” or Deputy Williams” and pretending to transfer the call to “Sheriff Patton” to make the caller believe this is a legitimate issue.
It’s not legitimate.
It’s a scam designed to scare you into giving up your hard-earned money.
Citizens receiving these types of calls should hang up and do not engage with these callers.
