University of Findlay Holding Annual Pharmacy Summer Camp

Posted on July 16, 2020

Calling all high school juniors and seniors! The University of Findlay’s 13th Annual Pharmacy Summer Camp is slated to take place July 26th and 27th.

To ensure the health and safety of all participants, the University will be following safety measures that align with the Ohio Department of Health’s orders. With safety being the University’s top priority, this year’s Pharmacy Summer Camp will be held as a day camp instead of the traditional residential camp so all participants have a safe and meaningful experience.

With the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) having such a large impact on schools and events, the University is extremely pleased to be able to offer this experience. This camp offers the unique opportunity for high school students to do some career exploration, learn about the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system, and get to know University of Findlay faculty in the College of Pharmacy.

Debra Parker, Pharm.D., dean of the College of Pharmacy, said, “Pharmacists are integral players in healthcare, and this has really been brought into the spotlight, especially in recent months. This camp provides a fantastic opportunity to do some valuable career exploration into the profession of pharmacy and have a lot of fun while doing so!”

While at the Pharmacy Summer Camp, students will be able to participate in hands-on sessions and learn about medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, compounding, and research. An additional benefit of attending camp is that seniors are given the opportunity to interview for Findlay’s unique Pharmacy Program which is one of the few pharmacy programs in the country that includes a direct-entry pathway in the program from high school.

Pharmacy Summer Day Camp registration is $200 and includes meals, camp instruction materials, and laboratory activities. Registration for the camp ends July 22.
