Upper Sandusky Couple Killed in Crash Thursday Afternoon

An Upper Sandusky couple was killed in a two vehicle crash that occurred in Wyandot County Thursday afternoon.

According to a release from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, 73 year old Mary A. Reinhart was driving north on County Highway 107 when a vehicle being operated by 25 year old Gage A. Layton, of Upper Sandusky, failed to yield and pulled into her path from County Highway 42.

Following the impact, both vehicles ended up off the road and came to rest on property located in the 6000 block of County Highway 107.

Reinhart and a front seat passenger, 76 year old Dale F. Reinhart, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the acting Wyandot County Coroner.

Layton and a passenger in his vehicle, 35 year old Crystal L. Layton, both suffered serious injuries.

They were transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

Assisting at the scene were Upper Sandusky EMS, Upper Sandusky JAWS, Upper Sandusky Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Fox’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
