Kenton Rotary and Rotarian Sam Norris welcomed fellow Rotarian and director of the United Way of Hardin County, Martha Nau.

United Way agencies are independent from one another and are in 37 countries and territories across the globe.

Martha spoke on the biggest misconceptions about our local United Way.

All of the funds raised in Hardin County stay in Hardin County. 98% of the money goes directly back to the community. These dollars support the United Way’s 3 prong focus: Education, Income and Health. The United Way supports programs in Hardin County including The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a Lunch Buddies program at USV and Ada elementary schools and Hardin Student Leaders United, where 24 sophomores from the area schools gather once a month to strengthen leadership skills while learning about Hardin County’s needs.

The 211 helpline project is in the cusp of completion. This program will be a one stop call/text information clearing house for any need you may have. They will be able to give you the current and correct number so that you can connect for your immediate need. A new program that partners with the West Ohio Foodbank brings a food pantry for students in the Ada and Hardin Northern districts.

There are always ways you can help the United Way. You can give, advocate and volunteer. Upcoming events are: Days of Caring during the month of May, June 22nd will bring the 1st annual golf outing and October 19th the United Way will once again host the Bourbon Ball.
