A man who started a fire in a downtown Wapakoneta apartment building was sentenced Thursday in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Frederick Pepple sentenced 20 year old Wesley Slaughter to 19 years in prison.

Slaughter pleaded guilty back in July to five counts of arson in connection to the fire that occurred in December of 2018.

The fire destroyed the building and left around 24 people homeless.
