Wapakoneta Residents Receiving Scam Calls Asking for Donations to Wapakoneta Police Department

Some Wapakoneta residents reported that they have received calls asking them to donate to the Wapakoneta Police Department.  

The agency reminded residents this week that they are not affiliated with any business or organization asking for monetary donations on their behalf.

Police say that you should not disclose personal or banking information to the callers.  

The best practice would be to ignore incoming calls from unknown phone numbers and have the call go to your voicemail or answering machine.  

If the call is important, they will leave a message.
