WCSO Warns of CCW Scam

Yet another scam seems to have appeared in the area.

A release on the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page reports texts being sent to local personal cell phones alleging to provide a link where the recipient can obtain their concealed-carry permit.

No such text message would be sent by the real sheriff’s office, and recipients are advised not to click on the link.

CCW permits and renewals are issued through the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office by appointment only, and the personal information the scam hopes the victim to divulge would be given in writing on the day of the appointment.
