Funding for the restoration of 100 acres of wetland in Hancock County has been approved by the Hancock Park District.

The Courier reports that the Facemyer Company of Sunbury placed the lowest bid on the Oakwoods Nature Reserve project, with a current project estimate of just under $752 thousand.

Covering the cost will be money from an Ohio Department of Natural Resources H2O grant.

Hancock Park District Director Gary Pruitt says work on the project, which includes the upgrades from corrugated-metal to heavy-duty plastic drainage pipe and planting of trees and prairie grasses, is expected to begin later this month and finish by June.
