Widespread Damage Reported Around the Region from Wednesday Storm

A line of severe thunderstorms that rumbled through the area Wednesday evening caused widespread damage around the region.

More damage occurred in surrounding counties, including tree limbs and power lines down.

The hardest hit area appears to be in the city of Marion.

There were multiple reports of damage reported around the city.

Channel 6 in Columbus posted a video of a possible tornado on the ground. The video was taken at Union Tank Car Building 2 in the city.

The high winds also blew bricks off the side of a downtown building located on State Street.

The bricks fell onto a car in the parking lot. The business owner was able to pull a woman from the car. She was not injured.

In the City of Kenton trees fell in the area of Wayne and Marie, Market and Kohler and the 700 block of North Ida Street.

There were several tree limbs and power lines down in the Ada area.

One tree fell across State Route 81.

Ada Fire Chief Jay Epley said property owners were able to clear the debris on their own.

Several customers of Dayton Power and Light in the Belle Center area lost service during the storm.

Most customers have had electricity restored, and only scattered outages remain, according to the utility’s website.

Several limbs also fell in Wyandot County.

Sheriff Mike Hetzel gave credit to deputies, fire departments, the county garage, ODOT and township trustees for doing an excellent job removing limbs and checking on downed power lines.
