Wildcats Win WBL Showdown

The Kenton Wildcats rallied from 10 points down to defeat state-ranked Wapakonketa 13 to 10 on Friday in a Western Buckeye League showdown at Harmon Field.

The Wildcats improve to 4 and 1 overall. The Cats are 4 and 0 in the league and are tied with Ottawa-Glandorf for first in the Western Buckeye League. The Redskins drop to 4 and 1 overall and 3 and 1 in the league.

The Redskins led 10 to nothing in the first half before the Wildcats rallied. Blaine Huston’s 19-yard touchdown run in the second quarter drew the Cats to with 10-7 at the break, and then Huston hooked up with Jayden Cornell for a 59-yard score in the second half to provide the winning margin.

Huston threw for 225 yards, with Cornell catching four passes for 84 yards and Landon Rush adding five catches for 83 yards.

Cornell and Carter Bays were named the Ace Hardware Players of the Game.
