William D. “Cisco” Shafer 66
of Rushslyvania
Funeral services for William D. “Cisco” Shafer will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Gary Mulholland officiating. Burial will follow at Norman Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the funeral home. The family has requested everyone wear casual attire for services.
He died on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1953 in Kenton to the late Fletcher and Elizabeth Ann (Gilbert) Shafer. He married Robin Mathews on May 31, 2013 and she survives in Rushsylvania.
Also surviving are a son; Chad Shafer of Kenton, a step-son; Michael (Ashleigh) Arrowood of Grove City, a step-daughter; Brigitte (Brandon) Nulton of Beaverdam, a brother; Sam (Shelly) Shafer of Kenton, a sister; Pam Sheetz of Elyria, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a wife; Kathleen Settlage.
Cisco was a truck driver for over 50 years.
A self proclaimed “Gearhead” he loved to work on cars and hotrods. He even had his own drag car, and would attend and participate in many drag races.
He collected lionel trains and in his younger years, Cisco even had built his own train track in his basement. He was also an avid Steelers and Buckeyes fan.
Cisco’s true passion was his Doberman Pinschers. He along with his wife raised several Dobermans and were very passionate about Doberman Pinscher rescue.
