Wintry Weather Hits Hardin County, Causing Slippery Roads and Delays

A blast of wintry weather Wednesday night and into the overnight resulted in slippery roads and frigid wind chill readings.

Snow accumulations were on the light side, but with wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour, the snow that did fall caused difficult travel conditions for motorists.

Hardin County was put on a Level One Snow Emergency at around 10:30 Wednesday night, and that was lifted at around 8:30 this morning.

As a result of the slippery conditions, a semi jack-knifed on State Route 31 at County Road 180, which closed the road for several hours.

A two-vehicle crash, one being a jack-knifed semi, was also reported on State Route 309 at County Road 75.

There were no injuries reported in either mishap.

Area schools went with two-hour delays due to the conditions this morning.
